Two!

On August 2nd the Buddy Boy turned 2! He was and still is so incredibly proud of himself over this achievement.

 

Caiden is the most perfect combination of all boy and sweet and snuggly toddler that there ever could be! He loves trucks and balls, throws caution to the wind, and has a stubborn streak that isn't going anywhere. He adores his daddy more than I can explain, loves to get kisses from mommy and wants to do everything his big sister does. We never knew how much we needed this little boy until he arrived and we are so humbled and blessed because we were chosen to be his mommy and daddy.

 

How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?

10 years

Today Matt & I are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary! Part of me can hardly believe that it's already been 10 years. I can still remember so many details of that time in our lives. The joy and excitement of the wedding and anticipation for the future. And another part of me knows that 10 years is not that long at all. We've only just begun!

 

We did not get any digital images from our wedding photographer (it was a different time back in 2003) but a friend took these and gave them to me.

 

One of my favorite parts of our ceremony was that we signed a covenant. Matt & I signed first and then both of our family's came up and signed. It was a really special part of our ceremony.

 

 

 

 

I am so thankful for these past 10 years with my best friend! When Matt & I met at a mutual friend's house 12 years ago I never could have imagined all that God had planned. But through it all - the victories and failures, joys and heart aches the Lord has been so good to us. And I am so excited for what the next 10 (and 20, 30, 40, even 50) years hold. After all...we've only just begun!

Dance Recital

At the beginning of June Adelyn had her very first dance recital. Her class did a tap number to Under the Sea and it was so cute! Adelyn did her best and we were so proud of her! I volunteered backstage and while I won't say it was fun, I am glad I did it.

 

Waiting patiently backstage with her best friend Gracyn. At one point Gracyn said to me, "Miss Abbie will you put some more lip gloss on me? Lets just make sure before I go on stage my lip gloss is refreshed." She's too much!

Summer Fun

Today may be the first official day of summer but we've already packed in a lot of summer fun! In May Matt built me my Mother's Day present...a swing set!

 

 Uncle Ryan and Aunt Lauren even came all the way from Connecticut to help and let me tell you - we couldn't have done it without them! (And by "we" I mean Matt. I cannot take any credit for this success).

 

 

 

The day they left to go home we had this visitor.

 

A 7' 4" alligator in our yard. A nice gentleman named Thunder came to help with his removal. We have a lot of thank you notes to write! ;)

 

We've also squeezed in swim lessons at Gracyn and Camryn Reese's house.

 

 

I was so proud of Adelyn! She was brave, didn't cry, and greatly improved from last year.

 

 I was really proud of Caiden too! This is him floating on the first day. I never did get it on video but two different times he took his hands out from behind his head to clap for himself and say "yay!" Sadly he started to sink both times. But it was really sweet.

 

Finally, at the end of May (can you believe this is still May!?) we went to the beach for a week. It was the most wonderful, relaxing trip!

"AdeG" is a silly nickname for Adelyn that came about from a question like this -

"What would my name be if you spelled it a-d-e-g?"  

Whenever we do call her AdeG she laughs and says "my name's not AdeG!"

 

 "KK" is what Caiden says when you ask him to say his name. :)

Thanksgiving 2012



I know, it's pathetic. I'm blogging about Thanksgiving 2012 at the end of February 2013. But there were too many fun memories to not give it a blog post.

 

We headed to Owensboro this year for Thanksgiving. It was Caiden's first airplane ride and visit to Kentucky. He did great on both the flights. Isn't it so sad that his mother made him ride in a hot pink stroller. 

 

Adelyn and Caroline had a lot of fun playing together. They had the most fun teasing Uncle Chris by hiding in his bed and giggling until he came to find them.

 

 

Since these pictures were taken Caroline has become a big sister. Do you think she was worried that her baby brother would be as silly as Adelyn's?

 

Speaking of our baby brother, he was quite the early riser on this trip. On Thanksgiving morning he woke up at 4 am, took a scenic drive around Owensboro, wished everyone in the drive thru at Dunkin' Donuts a "Happy Thanksgiving" and delivered breakfast to everyone at the house who didn't wake up at 4. Isn't he so thoughtful....
