Dakota

Yesterday was my 28th birthday. I tried really hard to convince Matt that I'm only 26. Unfortunately for me, he's good at math. Anyway, this post is not about me, it's about Dakota and his incredibly poor timing. I will spare you all details and just say that we had to put him to sleep yesterday. We are so sad. Seriously, I am crying as I type this...over a cat. And we are not what I would call "crazy cat people" but he has been our little kitty for 7 years and really was a great cat in spite of his faults. You can only imagine how terrible I feel for saying all those horrible things about him only a week ago.

Adelyn has asked about him a couple times so I told her that "Dakota went to see Jesus". Now whether or not he really did I don't know, but it sounds nice. So at lunch time she said "Dakota, Jesus, Noah, God". I really hope she's implying that Dakota went to play with Jesus, Noah, and God and not that he has now become a bible character like Jesus, Noah, and God...

The picture of Dakota with the quilt I made reminds me that he "helped" me with fabric selections when he stayed with us. He loved to slide the fabric squares with his paws along the table top. Sounds like Adelyn in a deep thinker. Dakota, say "hi" to Ruggles for me!

Isaac said that he will give you Gracie, if that would make you feel better! Seriously, we are really sorry for your loss. I will miss having my hair batted by Dakota and seeing his backflips!

Are you ready for this?

Monday was a very exciting day at our house. I celebrated turnig 29 (Yikes! I'm getting old) and we had a fetal echocardiogram to check on Baby Lilly #2. We didn't get any great shots because once again this little baby had their hand right next to their face. A very comfy position apparently. I'm happy to report that my birthday this year was a million times better than last year  and Baby Lilly's heart looks great! But that's not what you want to know now is it. Nope, you want to know what our name list looks like...So far Matt has suggested Jelaine  and Lapchild (for traveling purposes) and Adelyn has suggested Adelyn, Susie, Martha (if it's a boy), and Baby Scruffa Muffin. Still not what you're looking for? Hmm, how about that Baby Lilly #2 is a... BOY!!! And while we are so not ready for a boy and a little shocked we're really exicted too. Thanks to everyone who voted, commented or left me messages on facebook about the Chinese Calendar. Both i...

Two!

On August 2nd the Buddy Boy turned 2! He was and still is so incredibly proud of himself over this achievement.   Caiden is the most perfect combination of all boy and sweet and snuggly toddler that there ever could be! He loves trucks and balls, throws caution to the wind, and has a stubborn streak that isn't going anywhere. He adores his daddy more than I can explain, loves to get kisses from mommy and wants to do everything his big sister does. We never knew how much we needed this little boy until he arrived and we are so humbled and blessed because we were chosen to be his mommy and daddy.   How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?   1 Thessalonians 3:9

"I have ponytail!"

Yesterday Adelyn wanted me to fix her hair in a ponytail. I can assure you it's much harder than it sounds. Poor kid got my hair. But she doesn't know it and after seeing herself in the mirror she was so proud. The first thing she wanted to do was show daddy. So, we made him a video... At dinner I was lamenting about how grown up she looks and that it makes me kind of sad. Matt's sympathetic response? "Her hair really isn't long enough for a ponytail if you ask me. She looks like a boy from the front and when she turns to the side she looks like a pirate." Ahh, just what every girl wants to hear, "you look like a pirate."
