18 months

Adelyn turned 18 months earlier this month and we are having a blast! This is such a great age as she is really talking and her little or should I say big personality is coming out more and more. Here are a few of her favorite things:

Story: Noah and the Ark
Song: Veggie Tales Theme Song
Snack: "Cheeries" and Hummus (no, it's not a typo and no, it's not that tasty either)
Meal: "Freggie" (Spaghetti)
Thing to do with mommy & daddy: Chase and Tickle

I wanted to post some "growing" pictures when she turned 1 but never got around to it. So I thought this was my next big chance...

The Girls

This weekend all the girls on my mom's side of the family got together to celebrate with my grandmother as she retired from her position as Director of Women's Ministries at her church. She has served in this role for 14 years and the church had a beautiful tea party in her honor.
We had a lot of fun getting together and enjoyed celebrating Gran's special day with her.

Easter Pictures

Even though they're a little late, I thought they were still worth posting...

Since there wasn't a bounce house at this Easter Egg Hunt, Adelyn did a little better.

Especially when she realized there was food inside the eggs!
(This is probably the only year I'll get away with it, but instead of candy, I filled the eggs with goldfish, cheerios, and craisins. They were a big hit!)

After naptime Adelyn went for a ride in Gran's wagon

and picked some "flowers".

We had a wonderful Easter and hope you did too!

Dakota

Yesterday was my 28th birthday. I tried really hard to convince Matt that I'm only 26. Unfortunately for me, he's good at math. Anyway, this post is not about me, it's about Dakota and his incredibly poor timing. I will spare you all details and just say that we had to put him to sleep yesterday. We are so sad. Seriously, I am crying as I type this...over a cat. And we are not what I would call "crazy cat people" but he has been our little kitty for 7 years and really was a great cat in spite of his faults. You can only imagine how terrible I feel for saying all those horrible things about him only a week ago.

Adelyn has asked about him a couple times so I told her that "Dakota went to see Jesus". Now whether or not he really did I don't know, but it sounds nice. So at lunch time she said "Dakota, Jesus, Noah, God". I really hope she's implying that Dakota went to play with Jesus, Noah, and God and not that he has now become a bible character like Jesus, Noah, and God...

Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday we went to an Easter Egg Hunt with some of Adelyn's friends. Everything was so cute and festive. We had a great time!

While it may look like Adelyn was in a serious hunt for eggs,

taking inventory,

and keeping an eye on the competition...

She was really just biding her time until she could have the Bounce House all to herself.

Smart girl, that one!

Sea World

One of the great things about having so many attractions in Orlando is the ability to buy an annual pass and actually get your money's worth. The first year we lived here we bought passes to Disney and loved having them. Now that Adelyn has dropped her morning nap we thought Sea World would be the perfect place to frequent. This past Friday we went for the first time and Adelyn had so much fun!

Here she is waiting on Daddy to get our tickets. A well protected Florida girl never leaves home without her hat, sunglasses, & SPF 75!
We saw some very hungry Sea Lions, checked out the Penguins, and even caught part of the Shamu show.
But the majority of our time was spent in the aquarium looking at fish and sharks.
Sea World...we'll be back!

LOL

The other day a friend of ours posted this on his facebook page. Matt & I got a pretty good laugh out of it. Hope you do too! ;)

I recently asked my friends' little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, 'If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed with pride. "Wow...what a worthy goal", I told her. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and rake my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house. She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?" I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party." Her parents still aren't speaking to me.
