Memorial Day

"Hi!"
'

"Doooin'?"

"I'm taking pictures of Adelyn. What are you doing?"

"Oh, just dancin',

swingin',

and blowin' bubbles!"

We are so thankful for the men and women who have served our country so that we can do lots of dancing, swinging and bubble blowing at our house! Hope you enjoy the long weekend!

Sweet Caroline

This past weekend we went to Lexington to meet Miss Caroline.

Adelyn made a really good first impression...

"Aaaahh! Adelyn, please don't sit on me!!!"

The Daddies and their Girls

Mimi got the girls matching dresses to have their picture taken in. Chris said "she's finally getting her chance after raising three boys."

This one made me laugh because they have the same facial expression.

The Lilly Family

We had a lot of fun visiting with Caroline and can't wait to see her again soon or as Adelyn would say...

"yater!"

Beach Weekend!

Ryan and Lauren were just here for a visit so we headed down to the beach for a relaxing weekend. We had lots of fun swimming,

building sand castles,

(with very specific instructions)

and eating lots of yummy food.

We even had a miraculous healing as Adelyn was feeling terrible and running a high fever on Friday...

but pretty much back to her silly old self again by Saturday!

"I had lots of fun with you this weekend, Uncle Rynan & Aunt Waurnen. Come back soon!"
Love, Adelyn

Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom;
I made and ate hot meals,
I had unstained clothing,
I brushed my hair every day,
I had quiet conversations on the phone,
I slept as late as I wanted and I slept all night long.

Before I was a Mom;
I cleaned my house each day,
I never tripped over toys or forgot lullabies,
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous,
I had never been puked on, pooped on, spit on, chewed on, peed on, or pinched by tiny fingers.

Before I was a Mom;
I never thought about immunizations,
I never looked into teary eyes and cried,
I never felt my heart break into pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt,
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

Before I was a Mom;
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down,
I never sat up late hours of the night watching a baby sleep,
I never got up in the middle of the night to make sure everything was okay,
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.

Before I was a Mom;
I had complete control of my mind, my thoughts and my body,
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside of my body,
I didn't know that having something so small could make me feel so important,
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment, or the satisfaction of being a mom.

Before I was a Mom;
I never knew that something so small could effect my life so much,
I never knew that I could love someone so much,
I never knew I would love being a Mom this much,
I didn't know the bond between a Mother and her child,
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much.

Mommy & Adelyn, Mother's Day 2010.

(Yes, I am in Adelyn's crib, my legs are extremely white, and this is the only picture we took together that day even though we both went to church and in very pretty dress I might add.)

I hope all of the mother's in my life had a wonderful Mother's Day!

P.S. Not that you would think I did, but I didn't write the poem, someone sent it to me.

We are a very proud aunt and uncle, Adelyn was not a very cooperative cousin.

Mommy, Baby, and Daddy are doing great! Kinsley is such a sweetie. She slept all day long and only cried when someone tried to wake her up. Congrats Darla & Rob, we're so excited for you!

Disaster Averted!

If you've read our blog before you've probably noticed that Bunny pops up every once in awhile. He is Adelyn's "lovey" if you will and goes everywhere she goes. Last night we were at church and when I picked her up from the nursery I did the usual diaper bag check to make sure that Bunny & the paci were present. I could tell Bunny wasn't in there but I could also tell that no one had opened the bag since I dropped her off so I thought he must be in the car. Much to our chagrin, Bunny was MIA in the car as well. After going back inside to check once more with the ladies in the nursery we headed home Bunny less, desperately hoping he was there. I tried to ask Adelyn what she knew about Bunny's whereabouts. This is what she had to say...

M: "Adelyn, where do you think Bunny could be?"
A: "Dirt, dirty"
M: "Bunny's in the dirt?"
A: "Yeah. Bushes."
M: "Oh no! How did Bunny get in the bushes?"
A: "Frew'im"
M: "Adelyn, why did you throw Bunny in the bushes?"
A: "Get'im"

Thankfully we found Bunny at home reading the book about the "Do" (Rooster) as soon as we walked in the door! As for the bunny that Adelyn "frew" in the bushes, I'm not sure who he belongs to. I'm just glad I'm not the one traipsing through the bushes trying to find him!
