Bed Time Stories & New Tricks

While at first glance it may just look like Matt is holding Adelyn while browsing Southern Living he is actually reading her a "bed time story." I know, her childhood is ruined. But she is very knowledgeable about the natural springs in FL that are great to visit.

We hit the 3 week mark today & Adelyn has several new tricks. She's been able to hold her head up for a couple of weeks now and turn it from side to side during tummy time. But the other night while I was burping her she held it up and looked around the room for about 3 minutes. She has also figured out how to use her legs (although she doesn't know it yet) by putting her feet on the changing pad and pushing back. As you can imagine, this makes changing her diaper a breeze. And yes, there is a voice inside my head saying "be afraid, be very afraid!"

Here are some more pictures from the week...

Thank goodness, someone gave us Pat the Sleepy Bunny. Now Adelyn doesn't have to read Southern Living anymore. I know this looks like a weird way to hold her, but it makes her stop crying which is our #1 goal of the evenings!

Aunt Corrie comes to visit!

Thanks for my big bunny Aunt Corrie!

Adelyn loves to look at the baby in the mirror!

The Terrific Two's

Adelyn officially hit the 2 1/2 mark a couple of months ago and oh my, this kid is a mess! She is just so full of life, personality, words, thoughts, opinions, energy, did I mention words? There are days when I'm pretty sure she's trying to reach her 5,000+ words used for the day quota before lunch time and it wears me out! She is also the sweetest, smartest, funniest, most charming 2 year old in the whole world. (In my humble opinion as her mother of course.) Don't get me wrong, she is by no means perfect. The past couple of weeks she's been in rare form but we think the two's are far more terrific than terrible. She is very much into the details and notices everything. She sees those decorative ball things that go on car antennas everywhere. One day she saw a red Mickey Mouse head and told me the reason it's red is because his overalls are red. It's been so neat to hear her start to use logic and reason or give explanations. Adelyn is quite the tease an...

Eye to Eye

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise to know that Matt & I don't always agree on everything. For example, I think Matt should appreciate what a bargain shopper I am. Matt doesn't think I should shop. Clearly, someone's mistaken. But when it comes to parenting we really have been in agreement on every issue (yes, I know it's only been 6 months) but one...Diapers. Now before you think to yourself "I wonder if they're using cloth diapers?" let me just tell you that we completely agree that money should never be saved on 3 items. Toilet Paper. Paper Towels. And you guessed it, Diapers. So what's problem? It's the size of the diaper. If it was up to Matt, Adelyn would still be wearing the newborn size. (I think he's in denial about the fact that she's actually grown since being born). I however, the head diaper changer, fully understand the importance of a well fit diaper. In Matt's defense, he has never actually changed a blow-...

The Chinese Calendar

In less than a week we will find out if Baby Lilly #2 is a boy or a girl. We are excited, anxious, nervous, and can hardly wait! As I'm sure you know, there are countless wives tales people use to predict a baby's gender. My doctor predicted a boy based on the baby's heart rate and Matt's prediciting a girl because "the Lord knows what he needs." When I was pregnant with Adelyn women would tell me I was having a boy because of the way I was "carrying" (even though we already knew she was a girl) and recently I saw a pee on the stick gender predictor kit at Target. One of the more "reliable" gender predictors someone told me about is the Chinese Calendar.  It's based on the mother's lunar age and there are two different calendars to use. So, click on these links, see what it says about your child/children, and come back to vote in my polls (in the left column) about how accurate it was for you! Make sure you vote for each child if yo...
