The New Normal

Well hello there! In case you haven't noticed, I'm a little behind. And not just at blogging...you should see my laundry room. Life is just crazy! and as much as I try to tell myself that it will slow down and get back to "normal" I've had to come to terms with the fact that "normal" is long gone and never coming back.

The past couple of months have not only been extremely busy for us but also challenging in that "the little things of life all add up at the same time and take their toll" kind of way. The other day on the way home from the grocery store I was starting to feel a little sorry for myself about all of this and found myself getting discontent in it all. Just about that time a good ol' country song came on the radio that had all the answers. I've got to say, that is one of the great things about country music - they've got a song for whatever ails ya! Anyway, it was a good reminder for me that not only does life happen, but I'm not the only one who is busy. I was then reminded (this time by the Holy Spirit I'm sure) about how good and gracious God is. Even in the midst of life not being exactly they way we'd like, some really exciting and wonderful things have happened too!

One of those is that I got a job! Crazy I know. I didn't even know I was looking. Ok, maybe I did. But not too seriously. Before Adelyn was born I thought that I would like to continue working a couple days a week but knew it had to be the right opportunity. Last Tuesday I literally called to inquire, applied, interviewed, and was offered a teaching position in less than 12 hours. I am teaching 5th grade two days a week with the Home School program at our church and think that I'm going to love it. Adelyn will be attending Mom's Day Out at the church and is in the same building as my classroom. She will be doing art projects & having music class. I think this is hilarious. I'm not really sure what art & music activities you do with a 10 month old, but be my guest! I can't wait to see her masterpiece.

Ok, enough about me (if you're still reading I'm impressed). Here are a few pictures of Adelyn from the past week. We try to go for a walk in the morning before it gets too hot. Adelyn loves to "wear" her sunglasses.
Adelynflafa? The other morning Adelyn rolled out of bed and her hair was sticking straight up. Even after getting it wet and brushing it, it would not lay down.
This picture is my favorite. I don't think anymore personality could ooze out of that grin.
Here we are on our first day of school. One of us doesn't look too excited about it.

A Worthy Cause

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

Matthew 6: 21

I was thinking about this verse a lot today and decided that it would be appropriate for me to share with you something that Matt & I have recently invested a lot of money in...

I mean, if that doesn't just move you to tears I don't know what will.

After being broken for 2 weeks and repaired 3 times, twice within a 24 hour period, our hearts have been chopped up into little tiny pieces and scattered on the ground around our air conditioning unit. Now I know that in some states people don't even have central air, but here in Florida we would all be dead without it. One afternoon we went by the house to pick up a few things and the upstairs was 94 degrees. I think it was only 92 outside. Home ownership...isn't it grand. This got me thinking about that movie with Tom Hanks, The Money Pit. So far we haven't had any bath tubs fall through the floor. But if you come over any time soon I wouldn't sit in that corner chair in the family room.

PayDay

This morning I hit the Laundry Jackpot!!! I found two clean, crisp, freshly washed & dried George Washington's all for myself. You're jealous I know. And even though I am 100% sure they came out of my own khaki shorts (the only other things in this particular load were white t-shirts, undies, & a Born to be a UK Wildcat Onsie) I was still pretty excited. Ok, I admit, it doesn't take much. But Man! Another day like this & I'll be able to buy an Iced Chai Latte from Starbucks without Matt deducting it from our eating out budget. Life is Good!

Funny Face

Lately Adelyn has been making some pretty funny faces. I think she's going to be really good at the Chubby Bunny game one day. You know, the one where you stuff lots of marshmallows in your mouth.
We're really not sure what to think about this one.

Neither was the check-out lady at the grocery store...
