Savannah & Halloween

At the end of October Matt & I went to Savannah for a weekend to get away. It was our first trip away since Caiden was born. It was wonderful. We slept in every morning and didn't have to be back for naptime.

We took a historic carriage ride around the city, ate delicious meals and even stood in line at Mrs. Wilkes. It was so worth it!

Adelyn & I made a pumpkin pie for Halloween and we had fun trick or treating with friends.

She wanted to be a bride this year. Claire and Cinderella were her great inspirations. She felt so beautiful!

As for the Buddy Boy. His mother didn't buy him a costume. If she had planned ahead she could have dressed him up as a groom or prince. But she didn't and he didn't mind at all.

Two!

On August 2nd the Buddy Boy turned 2! He was and still is so incredibly proud of himself over this achievement.   Caiden is the most perfect combination of all boy and sweet and snuggly toddler that there ever could be! He loves trucks and balls, throws caution to the wind, and has a stubborn streak that isn't going anywhere. He adores his daddy more than I can explain, loves to get kisses from mommy and wants to do everything his big sister does. We never knew how much we needed this little boy until he arrived and we are so humbled and blessed because we were chosen to be his mommy and daddy.   How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?   1 Thessalonians 3:9

"I have ponytail!"

Yesterday Adelyn wanted me to fix her hair in a ponytail. I can assure you it's much harder than it sounds. Poor kid got my hair. But she doesn't know it and after seeing herself in the mirror she was so proud. The first thing she wanted to do was show daddy. So, we made him a video... At dinner I was lamenting about how grown up she looks and that it makes me kind of sad. Matt's sympathetic response? "Her hair really isn't long enough for a ponytail if you ask me. She looks like a boy from the front and when she turns to the side she looks like a pirate." Ahh, just what every girl wants to hear, "you look like a pirate."

The Terrific Two's

Adelyn officially hit the 2 1/2 mark a couple of months ago and oh my, this kid is a mess! She is just so full of life, personality, words, thoughts, opinions, energy, did I mention words? There are days when I'm pretty sure she's trying to reach her 5,000+ words used for the day quota before lunch time and it wears me out! She is also the sweetest, smartest, funniest, most charming 2 year old in the whole world. (In my humble opinion as her mother of course.) Don't get me wrong, she is by no means perfect. The past couple of weeks she's been in rare form but we think the two's are far more terrific than terrible. She is very much into the details and notices everything. She sees those decorative ball things that go on car antennas everywhere. One day she saw a red Mickey Mouse head and told me the reason it's red is because his overalls are red. It's been so neat to hear her start to use logic and reason or give explanations. Adelyn is quite the tease an...
