Happy Birthday!!!

We have lots of celebrating to do at our house as Adelyn turned 2 months old yesterday & drum roll please... Matt celebrates the BIG 3-0 TODAY!!! As you can imagine some of us are more excited about the age we're celebrating than others. At her 2 month check up Adelyn weighed 9 lbs. 12.5 oz. (Aunt Darla's birth weight!) and is 23 inches long. So we have a long skinny girl on our hands who will be sporting the baggy clothes look for quite sometime I think. Over the past couple of weeks she has started to smile more and more. Every once in a while I hear a little laugh out of her too. So that's been fun to watch. I missed posting a Happy Thanksgiving blog so here are some pictures from that day.

Matt watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade while Adelyn got an early start on one of her Thanksgiving Day naps.

"Mommy, what is this thing on my head? It is as big as me!"

I'm ready for my turkey & stuffing!

What a sleepy head! It must be from all that turkey & stuffing.

Thanksgiving was a lot of fun & I was so glad to finally feel really full! As we are gearing up for Christmas Adelyn is getting excited about her first trip to Kentucky as Matt & I are debating...will it take us 3 or 4 days to get there & will we need 1 car or 2?

Sorry you're so old Matt, I'm glad it hasn't happened to me yet. Oh, and that's a cute kid you've got there!

The Terrific Two's

Adelyn officially hit the 2 1/2 mark a couple of months ago and oh my, this kid is a mess! She is just so full of life, personality, words, thoughts, opinions, energy, did I mention words? There are days when I'm pretty sure she's trying to reach her 5,000+ words used for the day quota before lunch time and it wears me out! She is also the sweetest, smartest, funniest, most charming 2 year old in the whole world. (In my humble opinion as her mother of course.) Don't get me wrong, she is by no means perfect. The past couple of weeks she's been in rare form but we think the two's are far more terrific than terrible. She is very much into the details and notices everything. She sees those decorative ball things that go on car antennas everywhere. One day she saw a red Mickey Mouse head and told me the reason it's red is because his overalls are red. It's been so neat to hear her start to use logic and reason or give explanations. Adelyn is quite the tease an...

The Chinese Calendar

In less than a week we will find out if Baby Lilly #2 is a boy or a girl. We are excited, anxious, nervous, and can hardly wait! As I'm sure you know, there are countless wives tales people use to predict a baby's gender. My doctor predicted a boy based on the baby's heart rate and Matt's prediciting a girl because "the Lord knows what he needs." When I was pregnant with Adelyn women would tell me I was having a boy because of the way I was "carrying" (even though we already knew she was a girl) and recently I saw a pee on the stick gender predictor kit at Target. One of the more "reliable" gender predictors someone told me about is the Chinese Calendar.  It's based on the mother's lunar age and there are two different calendars to use. So, click on these links, see what it says about your child/children, and come back to vote in my polls (in the left column) about how accurate it was for you! Make sure you vote for each child if yo...

"I have ponytail!"

Yesterday Adelyn wanted me to fix her hair in a ponytail. I can assure you it's much harder than it sounds. Poor kid got my hair. But she doesn't know it and after seeing herself in the mirror she was so proud. The first thing she wanted to do was show daddy. So, we made him a video... At dinner I was lamenting about how grown up she looks and that it makes me kind of sad. Matt's sympathetic response? "Her hair really isn't long enough for a ponytail if you ask me. She looks like a boy from the front and when she turns to the side she looks like a pirate." Ahh, just what every girl wants to hear, "you look like a pirate."
