Merry Christmas

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas! This year we stayed in FL for sunshine & shorts on Christmas Day. Adelyn made the most of being the center of attention and we really enjoyed our time with family and friends.

One of my favorite traditions is the Christmas Eve service at our church. We thought about taking Adelyn up for the children's sermon, but after she swiped a $20 out of the offering plate we decided to wait until next year. (Don't worry, the $20 was returned to baby Jesus). The service closes by singing Silent Night and lighting 5,000+ candles. It is so beautiful! This is a picture Matt took with his phone.

I was worried that I would be more excited about giving Adelyn her tricycle than she would be about receiving it, but it was actually a big hit! I think the key was not wrapping it. She was kind of oblivious to the fact that there were toys, dolls, books, etc. inside those gift bags & presents.

What is it that they say about kids being more interested in the boxes than the present inside? That would NEVER happen at our house...

Two!

On August 2nd the Buddy Boy turned 2! He was and still is so incredibly proud of himself over this achievement.   Caiden is the most perfect combination of all boy and sweet and snuggly toddler that there ever could be! He loves trucks and balls, throws caution to the wind, and has a stubborn streak that isn't going anywhere. He adores his daddy more than I can explain, loves to get kisses from mommy and wants to do everything his big sister does. We never knew how much we needed this little boy until he arrived and we are so humbled and blessed because we were chosen to be his mommy and daddy.   How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?   1 Thessalonians 3:9

"I have ponytail!"

Yesterday Adelyn wanted me to fix her hair in a ponytail. I can assure you it's much harder than it sounds. Poor kid got my hair. But she doesn't know it and after seeing herself in the mirror she was so proud. The first thing she wanted to do was show daddy. So, we made him a video... At dinner I was lamenting about how grown up she looks and that it makes me kind of sad. Matt's sympathetic response? "Her hair really isn't long enough for a ponytail if you ask me. She looks like a boy from the front and when she turns to the side she looks like a pirate." Ahh, just what every girl wants to hear, "you look like a pirate."

The Terrific Two's

Adelyn officially hit the 2 1/2 mark a couple of months ago and oh my, this kid is a mess! She is just so full of life, personality, words, thoughts, opinions, energy, did I mention words? There are days when I'm pretty sure she's trying to reach her 5,000+ words used for the day quota before lunch time and it wears me out! She is also the sweetest, smartest, funniest, most charming 2 year old in the whole world. (In my humble opinion as her mother of course.) Don't get me wrong, she is by no means perfect. The past couple of weeks she's been in rare form but we think the two's are far more terrific than terrible. She is very much into the details and notices everything. She sees those decorative ball things that go on car antennas everywhere. One day she saw a red Mickey Mouse head and told me the reason it's red is because his overalls are red. It's been so neat to hear her start to use logic and reason or give explanations. Adelyn is quite the tease an...
