The Big Dance

Kentucky's not the only one busy "dancing" this week. Adelyn has had several exciting dance parties at her house lately. And what's on her play list you ask? High School Musical of course!
Last year Adelyn had some help filling out a tournament bracket based on whose mascot she liked better. She did surprisingly well and picked several upsets. Matt & I were pretty excited that this year she would actually have an opinion and it went really well...

Matt: Ok, Adelyn who do you want to win Ohio St. or UT-San Antonio?
Adelyn: KENTUCKY!

M: Um, ok...how about George Mason or Villanova?
A: KENTUCKY!!

M: No, you have to pick either George Mason or Villanova
A: KENTUCKY!!

M: Ok, we'll come back to that one. How about Kentucky or Princeton.
A: Umm...Princeton.

After that they moved on to mascots...

M: Ok, lets try mascots. Do you want the Owls or the Lions to win?
A: How bout da Owls AND da Lions.

Mabye we'll wait until next year to fill out Adelyn's bracket.

We'll be cheering on the Cats tomorrow in Tampa! (Please play better than you did on Thursday.)

Cats! Cats! Cats!

A very similar conversation happened in our house! Hallie has a bracket in our family pool. What we ended up doing was finding a site that had all the mascots and we just had her choose between two pictures for each matchup. She did pick UK to win it all, because she really does like the wildcat (brainwashed). :c) I bet you all had an awesome time today. Go Cats!!!

I was telling this story to someone just yesterday. Even people who've never met Adelyn think this is absolutely hilarious.

Also, I think she's good luck. She seemed to be of the opinion that Kentucky will win, no matter what. So far... she's been right. :)

The Terrific Two's

Adelyn officially hit the 2 1/2 mark a couple of months ago and oh my, this kid is a mess! She is just so full of life, personality, words, thoughts, opinions, energy, did I mention words? There are days when I'm pretty sure she's trying to reach her 5,000+ words used for the day quota before lunch time and it wears me out! She is also the sweetest, smartest, funniest, most charming 2 year old in the whole world. (In my humble opinion as her mother of course.) Don't get me wrong, she is by no means perfect. The past couple of weeks she's been in rare form but we think the two's are far more terrific than terrible. She is very much into the details and notices everything. She sees those decorative ball things that go on car antennas everywhere. One day she saw a red Mickey Mouse head and told me the reason it's red is because his overalls are red. It's been so neat to hear her start to use logic and reason or give explanations. Adelyn is quite the tease an...

The Chinese Calendar

In less than a week we will find out if Baby Lilly #2 is a boy or a girl. We are excited, anxious, nervous, and can hardly wait! As I'm sure you know, there are countless wives tales people use to predict a baby's gender. My doctor predicted a boy based on the baby's heart rate and Matt's prediciting a girl because "the Lord knows what he needs." When I was pregnant with Adelyn women would tell me I was having a boy because of the way I was "carrying" (even though we already knew she was a girl) and recently I saw a pee on the stick gender predictor kit at Target. One of the more "reliable" gender predictors someone told me about is the Chinese Calendar.  It's based on the mother's lunar age and there are two different calendars to use. So, click on these links, see what it says about your child/children, and come back to vote in my polls (in the left column) about how accurate it was for you! Make sure you vote for each child if yo...

"I have ponytail!"

Yesterday Adelyn wanted me to fix her hair in a ponytail. I can assure you it's much harder than it sounds. Poor kid got my hair. But she doesn't know it and after seeing herself in the mirror she was so proud. The first thing she wanted to do was show daddy. So, we made him a video... At dinner I was lamenting about how grown up she looks and that it makes me kind of sad. Matt's sympathetic response? "Her hair really isn't long enough for a ponytail if you ask me. She looks like a boy from the front and when she turns to the side she looks like a pirate." Ahh, just what every girl wants to hear, "you look like a pirate."
