Oh, BOY!

So it's been about 4 weeks since we found out we're having a boy and I'm not gonna lie - I'm nervous! But the idea is definitely growing on me. I mean, how can you not be kind of excited about having a pair of these laying around.

I'm 24 weeks today and feeling pretty good. I still have some bad days and do not understand how it's possible for everything, even water it seems, to give a person heartburn but hey, at least I have Tums. Overall though I am enjoying this pregnancy. Strange, I know. This baby boy is much stronger and more active than I remember Adelyn being. I'm pretty sure he has ESP because every time I think about him or something related he starts kicking. Adelyn loves to feel him kick and will rest her hand on my belly and ask "is he kicking for me in dare?". We have a name picked out and a c-section date so even though I've still got 15 weeks to go, it's becoming very real. We've been working on several projects around the house and next up is Adelyn's big girl room. Once that's done I'll work on the nursery. Here's a sneak peak of what I have so far...

Adelyn is so excited about being a big sister. She notices babies, stroller's, car seats, and all things baby everywhere. She'll say things like "when da baby gets bigger..." or "I fink da baby would really wike dis!" She's moved on from naming the baby Susie to naming him Henry Wiwee (Lilly). Think of it as a double name, not that Lilly is the last name. This is not however the name we've chosen so now she's decided it could be his middle name. The other day she wanted to know where he's going to sleep so I explained that she would be getting a new big girl bed and that we'd turn her toddler bed back into a crib for the baby to sleep in. Her response: "Oh, dat is so nice of me to share my crib wif da baby!"

Oh, baby - you don't know what you've gotten yourself into!

Two!

On August 2nd the Buddy Boy turned 2! He was and still is so incredibly proud of himself over this achievement.   Caiden is the most perfect combination of all boy and sweet and snuggly toddler that there ever could be! He loves trucks and balls, throws caution to the wind, and has a stubborn streak that isn't going anywhere. He adores his daddy more than I can explain, loves to get kisses from mommy and wants to do everything his big sister does. We never knew how much we needed this little boy until he arrived and we are so humbled and blessed because we were chosen to be his mommy and daddy.   How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?   1 Thessalonians 3:9

"I have ponytail!"

Yesterday Adelyn wanted me to fix her hair in a ponytail. I can assure you it's much harder than it sounds. Poor kid got my hair. But she doesn't know it and after seeing herself in the mirror she was so proud. The first thing she wanted to do was show daddy. So, we made him a video... At dinner I was lamenting about how grown up she looks and that it makes me kind of sad. Matt's sympathetic response? "Her hair really isn't long enough for a ponytail if you ask me. She looks like a boy from the front and when she turns to the side she looks like a pirate." Ahh, just what every girl wants to hear, "you look like a pirate."

The Terrific Two's

Adelyn officially hit the 2 1/2 mark a couple of months ago and oh my, this kid is a mess! She is just so full of life, personality, words, thoughts, opinions, energy, did I mention words? There are days when I'm pretty sure she's trying to reach her 5,000+ words used for the day quota before lunch time and it wears me out! She is also the sweetest, smartest, funniest, most charming 2 year old in the whole world. (In my humble opinion as her mother of course.) Don't get me wrong, she is by no means perfect. The past couple of weeks she's been in rare form but we think the two's are far more terrific than terrible. She is very much into the details and notices everything. She sees those decorative ball things that go on car antennas everywhere. One day she saw a red Mickey Mouse head and told me the reason it's red is because his overalls are red. It's been so neat to hear her start to use logic and reason or give explanations. Adelyn is quite the tease an...
