The New Normal

Well hello there! In case you haven't noticed, I'm a little behind. And not just at blogging...you should see my laundry room. Life is just crazy! and as much as I try to tell myself that it will slow down and get back to "normal" I've had to come to terms with the fact that "normal" is long gone and never coming back. The past couple of months have not only been extremely busy for us but also challenging in that "the little things of life all add up at the same time and take their toll" kind of way. The other day on the way home from the grocery store I was starting to feel a little sorry for myself about all of this and found myself getting discontent in it all. Just about that time a good ol ' country song came on the radio that had all the answers. I've got to say, that is one of the great things about country music - they've got a song for whatever ails ya! Anyway, it was a good reminder for me that not only does life happen, b...

A Worthy Cause

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6: 21 I was thinking about this verse a lot today and decided that it would be appropriate for me to share with you something that Matt & I have recently invested a lot of money in... I mean, if that doesn't just move you to tears I don't know what will. After being broken for 2 weeks and repaired 3 times, twice within a 24 hour period, our hearts have been chopped up into little tiny pieces and scattered on the ground around our air conditioning unit. Now I know that in some states people don't even have central air, but here in Florida we would all be dead without it. One afternoon we went by the house to pick up a few things and the upstairs was 94 degrees. I think it was only 92 outside. Home ownership...isn't it grand. This got me thinking about that movie with Tom Hanks, The Money Pit. So far we haven't had any bath tubs fall through the floor. But if you come over any time soo...

PayDay

This morning I hit the Laundry Jackpot!!! I found two clean, crisp, freshly washed & dried George Washington's all for myself. You're jealous I know. And even though I am 100% sure they came out of my own khaki shorts (the only other things in this particular load were white t-shirts, undies, & a Born to be a UK Wildcat Onsie ) I was still pretty excited. Ok , I admit, it doesn't take much. But Man! Another day like this & I'll be able to buy an Iced Chai Latte from Starbucks without Matt deducting it from our eating out budget. Life is Good!

Funny Face

Lately Adelyn has been making some pretty funny faces. I think she's going to be really good at the Chubby Bunny game one day. You know, the one where you stuff lots of marshmallows in your mouth. We're really not sure what to think about this one. Neither was the check-out lady at the grocery store...

T-R-O-U-B-L-E

Adelyn is 9 1/2 months and oh my...I need a nap! This girl is an endless bundle of energy. In the past couple of months she has added lots of new abilities to her bag of tricks. From clapping & waving to constant chatter she can do it all. One day we were talking and our conversation went something like this... Adelyn : " Hiii -ya!" Mommy: " Adelyn , are you going to be the next Karate Kid?" Adelyn : " Yaaa " She definitely keeps us laughing. Matt & I have certainly noticed her budding personality more and more, but it seems that others have too. The general consensus is that this girl is TROUBLE ! But don't take my word for it. Here's what everyone else is saying... Gigi: "What a BUSY BEAVER you are Adelyn ! I don't remember any of you girls being so busy & talkative all the time." (By busy she means intently focused on something at all times.) Dan & Jaaron (parents of 2 1/2 year old Brody. Jaaron is always...

Happy Anniversary

Today Matt & I are celebrating 6 years of wedded bliss! I can not believe how quickly the years have flown by. The other night we were talking about relationships and what makes them work. We decided that while we may not like the same movies or read the same books we do agree on the big stuff. You know...that ice cream should never be fat free, Asian Sesame Ginger Salad dressing is the only way to go, & that a king size bed is the key to any good marriage. Last night at dinner we were reflecting over the past 6 years. The trips we've taken, the ways we've celebrated our anniversary and what we want the next 6 years to look like. We are so grateful for all the ways that the Lord has blessed us and can't wait for what's next. This is a picture from the night we got engaged. We look so young! We were so young! Thank goodness we do not still have those couches! P.S. Happy Anniversary to all the other July Brides. I can think of at least 9 of you off the top of my...
